Why purchase property in Lazio?

THOUSANDS OF REASONS TO JOIN US IN THE HEART OF ITALY !

We can imagine thousands of reasons to establish in the heart of Italy in the region called Lazio. Besides Rome, one of world’s most famous tourist attractions, Lazio is blessed with an astonishing variety of landscapes and cultural heritages. In the west part you will find beautiful beaches and idyllic isles. In the centre are gentle hills with cultivated farmland spotted with volcanic lakes. Land inwards you surely will enjoy the Apennine mountains. And throughout Lazio are famous and scientifically important, historic sites, the remains of the original Roman and Etruscan culture that formed the basis of our civilization.

From Viterbo and Rieti, the two Northern provinces, Rome and the major historical cities, the Tyrrhenian Sea, Umbria and Tuscany are only an hour drive. And you can use the advantages of an efficient infrastructure: well maintained roads, extensive railroad tracks, a proper network of bus lines and two main airports of Rome: Fiumicino and Ciampino.

Property market

What is even more important; the property market in Lazio yet, is by no means as developed and stressed as in Tuscany or Umbria. Lazio is one of the best regions to obtain maximum value for money. Grab your change! The property market outside of Rome does not focus on foreigners there are still large areas where you can find fine opportunities for a reasonable price. See where you can find the best prices per m2 on DASOGNARE Valuation Indicator.

La Storia

The rich history of Lazio dominated for centuries the world history. When the city of Rome started expanding, they first developed intensive relationships with the Etruscan and Falesian people living in cities in the rural areas. They assigned the bravest ones to become the guards of the Roman roads. Finally they assimilated with the Romans and so the Roman Empire was founded.

Throughout the region, in cities and rural areas you will see the remains of the Roman Empire. Not to mention the churches and art of the medieval times.

Specific Etruscan sites are found in e.g. Tarquinia and Sutri. Their history lives on in their "cuisine". Even today some fine restaurants are specialized to prepare Etruscan meals. In Faleri novi you can even find the remains of a Falesian city.

The flag of Lazio still is a remainder of this incredible history including the four colours of Italy and symbols like the Wolfe (il Lupo Capitolini di Roma) and the SPQR sign (you will find them e.g. on the manhole covers in Rome).

The Countryside & the Cities

DASOGNARE focus with their services on the northern part of Lazio: the north province of Rome, the provinces of Viterbio and Rieti, well known by their Etruscan names Tuscia and Sabina. This region is spotted with (small) towns with medieval town centres, citadels “borgo’s” and villages on the rock “rocca’s”. Sometimes, seen from a distance, they really seem to float in the air. It is astonishing to realize how they once where build. They all have played their role in the glorious history of Italy.

I Prodotti Tipici

Italians are very proud on the produce of the land. If the term “Prodotti Tipici” agricultural products tipical for the region not existed, they would have invented it! Both Tuscia and Sabina are best known for its delicious DOP (like DOC of wine) olive oil. This is top quality, golden green olive oil, with a fresh smooth taste with very little acidity. It is best pressed traditionally, without the modern method of using hot water during the process. This subject however may ignite quite some discussion under the so called “connoisseurs”!

The Sabina region is famous for its DOP quality of olive oil. The olives grow during the summer and autumn and are harvested in november and december. The first pressing, the "extra virgine" oil in january is tasty.

Other world wide famous products are “Pecorino Romano” (lovely hard goat cheese) and “Ricotta Romana” (fresh cheese used in hardy and sweet dishes maid from sheepsmilk). But every small area or village has it own product to be proud of. Ask the locals or at the restaurants (“Trattoria”).

La Cucina

Like every region has its own “Prodotti Tipici” they also have their own tipical dishes or their own versions of dishes we recognize as Italian. Try tasting them at the “Trattoria”, preferably at lunch, the “Pranzo”.

In the provinces of Rome and Viterbo you can find a number of fine “Trattorias” mainly specialized in fine Etruscan dishes. It is worthwhile to try them.

Trattorias are small restaurants, often family run and serve the local cuisine in the most authentic way. They often do not have a menu because the dishes available change from day to day using the seasonal local products. But nearly always you’ll get the best quality for a fair price. In the provinces of Rome and Viterbo you can find a number of “Trattorias” specialized in Etruscan dishes. It is very worthwhile trying them out.

Sports and recreation

The country side provides such a rich variety that enables one to enjoy all kind of different recreational sports: sailing at see, on the lakes and all the other sports on or in the water or along the waterside. Hiking; day hikes, long distance routes and pilgrimages; it is the area of S. Francesco and close to Rome. Mountain biking, horse riding, mountain climbing, skiing in winter (Gran Sasso e.g.). When exhausted from a daytrip you might want to watch a game of soccer. Rome has two famous competing soccer clubs: AS Roma with fans from the city of Rome) and Lazio Roma with their supporters in the provincial regions).
